Indian food is gaining popularity in the United States as well as other parts of the world. Its exquisite taste has made people want to try more and experience delightful specialties. Indian dishes have gained popularity due to their exotic taste, color, texture as well as being hot and spicy. It is also considered healthy which contain some medicinal value in it.  Indian food is regionally inspired and comes in different cooking presentation depending on the region where it came from classified as Punjabi Food (Northwestern India), Bengali Food (Northeast region of India) and Gujerati Food (West India). The difference somehow is with their style of cooking, Northen India uses much of meat and Southern India uses much of vegetables in food preparation.

Another good thing about Indian food is that it has some medicinal value in it. Most recipes use spices and herbs such as asafoetida, cardamom, clove, cinnamon, coriander, garlic, ginger, turmeric and aniseed. It is this quality in Indian food that people worlwide wants to try for a unique and healthy experience. In addition, most Indian food is complete, it come in a variety of dishes. Aside from the main course which is a combination of meat and vegetables, it has appetizers, side dishes, desserts and snacks.There are also special dishes prepared only for special occassions.

For appetizers, try Vegetable Samosas which is made of fried pastries filled with potatoes and peas or, it could also be filled with minced beef instead of potatoes. The Vegetable Pakora is also a good appetizer; it is composed of crisp fried vegetable fritters with spiced onions, potatoes and spinach. And lastly, Chicken Tikka is made of chicken cubes marinated in yogurt with spices, and baked in a clay oven, and served on a sizzling plate.

For breads, Roti is a traditionally baked wheat bread which is very healthy. Also, you must try the Garlic Naan, an unleavened bread that works as an appetizer or to accompany a meal. (It is use to scoop rice and sauces.) It also comes in different flavor, but garlic is the most popular.

For vegetarian people, try Saag Paneer. Saag Paner is prepared from a cheese cooked in spinach with light cream. Also, the Shahi Paneer is a vegetarian dish, cooked in cheese and tomatoe sauce, cream nuts, raisins and spices while Aloo Choley is a combination of chickpeas and potatoes.

For main dish, Indians love Chicken Tandoori which was marinated in yogurt and baked in clay oven. Another chicken dish is Chicken Tikka Masala, a lightly marinated chicken cooked in a savory tomato sauce with onions and butter. Lastly, the Chicken Saag, a meat-eater delight cooked with spinach and light cream. Other main dish renowned worldwide are Prawn Palak, a seafood rich recipe cooked in curry and fresh spinach.

For desserts, try Kulfi, an Indian-style pistachio ice cream topped with rose water. It’s solid texture is what makes it different, the Indian way ice cream is prepared with no whipped cream. Other house specialties include Indian Chopped Salad (Kachoombar) and vegetables sprinkled with Chaat Masala making it outright a salad which is absolutely fat-free and delicious.
